.....I mean, who are they hiding from?

and they are so dumb that they also create "contact buttons" (message/add/block etc..) but since their profiles are set private, people only get to see the normal "MySpace contact box" and not such "contact buttons" So what's the point?

It's only for me and my friends to see. Real friends, not just random people to make my friend list look long. I have pictures of myself and family and friends that the public doesn't need to be concerned with.

well, you know how many ppl get killed and junk from online predators on myspace? a lot. Maybe not you or your friends or anything, but still a lot. And plus, it automatically puts your profile on private if your under 16. So that can't be helped. Plus, there are some ppl who have enemies and stuff and don't want them to view their pics. and as for the contact box, if yur not their friend you can't message them, IM them, or anything else like that.

my daughter does it to kee the freaks like you away also it helps her communicate with her friends and she includes me in her websurfing. this is supposed to be a teen site anyway not for sexual predators and that is why she changed hers from public to private because a predator actually contacted her.
