ok so i went to this persons account on myspace i dont have this person as a friend yet but i wanted to add them but then it turned up private before it wasnt on private and when i try to add them it says i have to know their last name and i dont know their last name then i went on my friends myspace account and look at the persons profile that i was going to add then the profile wasnt private and when i add that person on my friend account it doesnt require last name whats up with that

basically if the person is NOT your friend then it might be private because that person may only want his/her friends to see their profile. Also this avoids random people from adding them.
Its an option you have on myspace. you can choose to have anyone, whether friends or not, to see your profile or only allow those on your friends list to see it. Also there are wierd people on myspace so you can avoid them from adding you by asking them what your last name is or email.

That's how they have their settings. I guess they want to be private and they don't want people that don't really know them sending them friend requests. Send them a message and ask them to send you a friend request.
